What Error 430 Means

Error 430 indicates that the internal backup battery (RTC battery) inside the display has fully discharged. This small cell maintains the display clock, ride statistics memory, and configuration data when the main traction battery is removed.

Fix Procedure

Step 1: Recharge by Riding

Install a fully charged main battery, power on, and ride normally for 30 to 60 minutes. The internal battery recharges during operation and error 430 should clear on the next power cycle.

Step 2: Leave Plugged In

If riding is not immediately possible, leave the main battery installed with the system powered on for 1 to 2 hours.

Step 3: Replace the Internal Battery

If error 430 returns frequently despite regular riding, the backup battery has reached end of life. Replacement requires display disassembly by a Bosch-certified dealer and typically costs EUR 30 to EUR 60 including parts.

Prevention

During winter storage, leave the main traction battery installed at 40 to 60 percent charge to keep the display backup battery topped up.
