What Error 419 Means

Error 419 signals a control error detected in the drive unit — specifically in the communication or signal path between the motor controller and one of its connected peripheral circuits. This is distinct from errors 414 (display communication) and 423 (battery connection). Error 419 covers the controller internal peripheral communication, including sensor inputs and auxiliary outputs.

Fix Procedure

Step 1: Inspect All Connectors

Check every external connector on the drive unit: display cable, speed sensor connector, battery contacts, and any auxiliary connectors. Disconnect each, inspect for corrosion or damage, and reconnect firmly.

Step 2: Check Speed Sensor Wiring

The speed sensor cable and connector are a common fault point producing error 419. Check the cable run from sensor to motor and the connector at both ends.

Step 3: Power Cycle

Remove battery for 60 seconds. Reinstall and test. Control circuit errors caused by transient power fluctuations clear after a full controller reset.

Step 4: Dealer Diagnosis

If error 419 persists after all connectors have been checked and cleaned, the DiagnosticsTool 3 will identify which specific peripheral circuit is reporting the fault.
